Terms of service

Last updated: 2 July 2026

These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of the Stompa mobile application and related services (“Stompa”, “the Service”). By creating an account or using Stompa, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About Stompa

Stompa is a step-tracking and social competition app. You can join groups, connect with friends and family, view leaderboards, and take part in group challenges. Step totals are read from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) on your device and synced to our servers for rankings.

2. Eligibility

You must be old enough to consent to data processing in your country (at least 13, or the higher age required locally). You must provide accurate account information and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Group admins may manage their groups (including removing members) subject to in-app rules. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to others.

4. Health and fitness disclaimer

Stompa is for friendly competition and motivation only. It is not medical advice, a medical device, or a substitute for professional health guidance. Consult a doctor before starting or changing an exercise programme. You use step data and challenges at your own risk.

5. Free and Pro plans

Stompa offers a free plan and an optional paid subscription, Stompa Pro. Free accounts are subject to usage limits (currently up to 2 group memberships and 2 active or upcoming challenge participations at a time). Limits may change; we will not reduce free limits for existing users without notice in the app or on this page.

Pro unlocks higher limits and additional features described in the app at the time of purchase. Feature lists may evolve over time.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Stompa Pro is sold through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Payment, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to Pro features if a store payment fails, is refunded, or is disputed. Entitlements are tied to the account that completed the purchase.

7. Your content and visibility

You choose a display name, optional avatar, and group participation. Information you share in groups and with friends (including step totals and rankings) is visible to other members as designed by the product. Do not share anything you are not comfortable showing to people in your groups.

8. Intellectual property

Stompa, its branding, and the Service software are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. You retain rights to your own content (such as your profile photo), but grant us the rights needed to operate the Service.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Stompa available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice where practicable. We may update these Terms; continued use after the updated date means you accept the changes.

10. Termination

You may stop using Stompa at any time and delete your account from the Me tab. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms. Sections that should survive termination (including disclaimers and liability limits) continue to apply.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stompa and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Stompa Pro in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £50, except where liability cannot be limited by law (including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country give you the right to bring claims in your local courts.
